Kim and Mike

Kim and Mike’s wedding almost didn’t happen…not because of their relationship, far from it, they’re solid! Shaun and I were scheduled to photograph their wedding a year ago in 2018, but Mother Nature had other plans that day as Hurricane Florence swept through the Southeast and into North Carolina on their wedding weekend. After many hours of rearranging plans with their family, friends, and vendors, they picked a new date - one that was outside of hurricane season - and celebrated with those closest to them on May 18, 2019!

Even though Shaun couldn’t join us on the rescheduled date, I was so excited that they stuck with me because I knew after meeting with Kim for the first time, she had a rad style and was going to be a lot of fun to photograph!

This was the first time ever that a bride let me cheerleader-lift her up in the air to hang a wedding dress for pictures - we had to improvise without the help of Shaun’s 6’2” height advantage!

The bridal prep took place in the beautiful Renaissance Hotel in North Hills and the ceremony and reception were held at the The Garden on Millbrook in Raleigh. I love photographing big happy families and I often can’t help but smile and laugh along with them as they celebrate together - Kim and Mike’s “take-two” wedding was no exception and was even more fulfilling knowing struggle that they overcame!
