What a honor it was to teach fellow photographers at the Wedding Photography Workshop in New York City on June 27, 2018 as part of the SLR Lounge instructor team at Adorama Inspire Week. Each participant came in with different levels of experience photographing weddings and so the format for this workshop was flexible enough to meet their learning objectives. Applied learning is a great way to teach something as experiential as photography. Instead of passive learning through lecture, SLR Lounge & Adorama got it right by setting up a styled shoot with multiple instructors who guided participants on not just best practices for how to photograph certain subjects, but also the theories behind why we make the choices we do.
The venue could not have been more perfect either - Studio 450 in New York is a photographer's dream venue! With large windows surrounding a wide open floor plan with white walls and ceilings - I could photograph there all day! Did I mention they also have a lovely rooftop that can be decorated with lights and floral arrangements!?
Although the trip was super short, we enjoyed ever second of it - from meeting up with our new photographer friends for cocktails upon arrival to meeting the rest of the gang for dinner at the ultra modern sushi spot, Megu and on to the after party with even more photographers and into the wee hours at the after-after party with a super fun group of people!
