Ashley's Portraits
Southport, NC has quickly become one of my favorite places to visit. Located along the Cape Fear River, this little port city is incredibly charming and full of history. I love riding bikes through the neighborhoods of coastal plantation and Victorian-style homes to the city park where there seems to always be a festival of some sort and then down to the marina to see what new luxury yachts have come to port. Even at night, the city hums with live music at the bars or the haunted tours of Southport led by Katie’s lantern light.
The city’s claim to fame has to be its July 4th Festival which attracts 40-50,000 people each year. This is how I met Ashley. She’s a local artist who makes homemade small batch lifestyle products and is a regular at Southport’s many festivals! You can view her products or connect with her online here:
Krahn Xreations
Ashley was my muse and model for this mini photo session highlighting the charm of Southport during July 4th. We started at the Maritime Museum and stopped along the way at spots that caught our eye and eventually ended up at the marina just in time for a summer downpour. After we realized the rain was not planning to stop anytime soon, we decided to just roll with it like true locals. Luckily my camera and lenses are weather sealed! Here are a few favorites and a BTS from our session :)
